FSSAI REGISTRATION

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a regulatory body established by the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India, Act 2006.

It is responsible for ensuring food safety and standards across the country. It ensures the food products undergo quality checks thereby curtailing the food adulteration. The FBO will get a 14-digit number that needs to be printed on food packages

FSSAI Return

FSSAI returns is to filed by:

  • FBO having Turnover> more than 12 lacs
  • Every FBO importing, selling, manufacturing, exporting, storing, distributing, handling or transporting any type of food product.
    1. The FBO is involved in the manufacturing and distribution of milk.

There are 2 types of FSSAI returns and their due dates are:

  1. Annual return (D1): It is to filed on or before 31st May of every F.Y.
  2. Half-Yearly Return (D2):
Half-Yearly Period Due Date to File Form D2
1 April to 30 September Within 31 October
1 October to 31 March Within 30 April

Closure Procedure

When you want to close your business or make major changes to it so that it can no longer be used for its intended purpose. You can apply to surrender your FSSAI license online through the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS).

To surrender the FSSAI license, you can:

  1. Log in to your FoSCoS account
  1. Navigate to Surrender/Transfer
  1. Click Apply for Surrender/Transfer of License/Registration
  1. Click Proceed against the application you want to surrender
  2. Upload the required documents, fill in any remarks, and click Apply for Surrender
  3. Once the concerned authority approves your request, your license will be considered surrendered.
